Judge invalidates New York City’s ban on large sugary drinks saying that the regulations are “fraught with arbitrary and capricious consequences,” New York Post reports. The restrictions, scheduled to take effect on Tuesday, were concerning the sale of sugary drinks greater than 16 ounces in city delis, restaurants, movie theaters and stadiums but not supermarkets, which are regulated by the state. Soda companies fought the decision, but the city planned to stick by its launch date to tackle its high obesity rate. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg stated that his administration would appeal the ruling.
